Auction 2021: A year in review

Our Year in Review guide celebrates a fantastic year for auction across 2021, featuring insights from iamsold Managing Director Jamie Cooke, auction buyers and our valued Partner Agents.

The numbers are in

Last year, we sold 5023 homes at auction!

Today’s buyers and sellers want more. They want more choice which matches their individual circumstances and online solutions that offer speed and security.

Whilst we recognise that the past two years have had a unique set of circumstances, with unprecedented demand and low stock levels, more and more Estate Agents are turning to auction to meet the changing needs of their clients and to support their own business.

Consumer demand for auction is on the rise!

In 2021 we reported record breaking results, not just in capital value raised, but with record numbers of consumers interacting with the service via online views and bids. In 2020, bids across the year for iamsold auction properties totalled 28,044, then in 2021 bids hit a record high of 55,434 and with January 2022 recording 4,881 bids in one month alone, consumer engagement shows no sign of slowing down. Couple that with Google Trend data which indicates that online search interest in ‘Modern Method of Auction’ has been steadily on the rise for the last three years, with a rise of 130% in consumer searches when comparing January 2019 to January 2022, it’s safe to say consumers awareness, consideration, and use of auction as a method of sale continues to grow.
